  • After being wounded, he left Cape Helles on the Hospital Ship 'Braemar Castle' for Malta where he was admitted to St George's Hospital.. He went on the City of Benares to England on 4 July 1915 and came home to New Zealand on 16 February 1916 in SS Rotorua.

    He drew a farm in the Servicemen's Ballot in July 1916 at Otunui Landing, 16 miles south of Taumarunui on the banks of the Wanganui River.

    Private Davey was involved in guard duties at Arapuni Dam, Mechanics Bay, Auckland and Waiouru Military Camp during WW2 while it was under construction. AWMM
