    Charge sister at Papakura 29.10.1940 - 17.6.1943; the original certificate of appointment received by Ethel Tinkler-Smith on 24 November 1947 and signed by the Minister of Defence, F. Jones and Governor-General Freyberg, is deposited in the Manuscripts Collection of the Museum Library

    She served in New Zealand in World War II from 6.11.1940 - 7.7.1943

    Ethel's family (in England) have in their possession a book given to her in December 1941 by Sergeant B. Luks. A digital copy of the inscription in the front of the book is attached. AWMM
