    Educated at Whangarei Primary and Whangarei High School. Was a noted athlete and head prefect.

    After leaving school became one of the early pupils of the flying school at Waikato Airport.

    Joined RAF 31 My 1938.

    Commanded No. 73 Squadron, Middle East.

    He was originally buried near the crash site and later reinterred at Halfaya Sollum
