  • Returned to New Zealand on 19 July 1945. Extracts from his diary are included in his book "Memories of World War 2". He gives details of his service, capture as POW and escape in Greece.

On return to NZ, he suffered from colitis. He received no counselling and did not wish to depend on a war pension.

According to his wife, he tended to overwork on small dairy farm purchased in 1946. He avoided most reunions, only attending one or two. He was involved with local activities, including church and the small 21 Battalion group. AWMM
