Press, Volume LIII, Issue 15794, 9 January 1917
"Trooper Benjamin Harold Bunting (previously reported missing, but now reported killed in action), was the youngest son of Mrs S. Bunting, "Pencoed," Woodend. He was 23 years of age, and was educated at the Woodend School. At the time of his enlistment in the 13th Reinforcements he was working on his mother's farm. He was afterwards transferred to the 14th reinforcements. He was greatly respected in the district. He took a keen interest in athletics, and was a noted horseman, also a member of the Northern A. and P. Association." • Ben was my Great Uncle and was my Grandmothers brother. My grandmother was Sarah Dunn (nee Bumting) and I am proud to hold 2 letters from him. One was about his arrival in the UK, the other one after his arrival in France dated 18th September not long before he was killed.
I have met two of his brothers in about 1949 and have been to where they lived in "Pencoed" Woodend when we lived in Kaiapoi.
If anyone needs to contact me please do.
