    A message left with flowers at the Auckland War Memorial on Anzac Day 1999 read: In loving memory of 1826671 Lance Bombardier Arthur Watson Robinson Royal Artillery who was murdered by the Japanese at Sandakan POW Camp Borneo on 11 March 1945. All our fondest love to the father we never knew, your son and daughter Bettina and David xxxxxxxxx' AWMM
