    A message left with flowers at the Auckland War Memorial on Anzac Day 1999 read: In loving memory of 1826671 Lance Bombardier Arthur Watson Robinson Royal Artillery who was murdered by the Japanese at Sandakan POW Camp Borneo on 11 March 1945.
