  • Dudley Harrowell was the son of Major Edwin H. Harrowell (5; 573 ; 12/907)] and Camilla Harrowell nee Steele (22/410).

    Dudley was born in Auckland in 1919 and attended Kings College from 1933 -36; being a member of School House.

    He joined 4 Field Battery in February 1939 as a Gunner. He attended the Duntroon, the Royal Military College of Australia from July to December 1939 and was gazetted Lieutenant in the NZ Staff Corps. Following regimental postings in New Zealand and Fiji, he departed for the Middle East on 10 December 1942. He arrived in Egypt on 5 January 1943 and joined 23 Battalion on 28 February 1943. On 26 March 1943 he was killed when the New Zealand Division captured the Tebaga Gap
