For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack on 8th October 1918 near Crevecoeur. Although wounded early in the advance he continued to harass the enemy at every opportunity. He bought his Lewis Gun into action against an enemy Battery, dispersing one of the gun crews. He endeavoured to put out of action enemy Lewis Guns firing from a tank and continued until he had a stoppage which he repaired under fire. He set a splendid example to the men of his section.
