    • Valentine Allport was the son of Alfred Valentine and Amy Allport, of Stoke, Nelson, New Zealand.

      Attended Nelson College (Source: RNZAF Biographies (R17845607)) AWMM
    • Born Nelson, New Zealand 1916.
      Employed as a Life Assurance Agent with AMP - at Nelson - prior to enlistment.

      Enlisted for war service - with the RNZAF - 30 August 1940.

      Served full tour with 18 Squadron RAF - in the Middle East and Europe - flying Bristol Blenheim Bombers - prior to joining RAF 1655 Training Unit for Mosquito (light bomber) training. Awarded the DFC 11 August 1942 whilst serving with 18 Squadron.

      12 solo hours with Mosquito bomber prior to the accident which would claim his life.

      Reason for aircraft/crew loss:

      26 March 1944 - whilst serving as a Pilot with RAF 1655 Training Unit - took off, at 19.09 hours from RAF Warboys, Cambridgeshire, England for an operational training flight in Mosquito FB.IV DZ388 with his Navigator RAFVR Flight Lieutenant Thomas W. Matthews.

      At 19.30 hours Squadron Leader Allport's Mosquito spun into the ground at Aslackby Farm. Both men aboard were killed. Public - Jenifer - Researcher - 18 January 2020 - Reference : www.aircrewremembered.com (England).
