  • Son of Henry Foley Bennett and Margaret Edith Olive Bennett, of Geraldine, Canterbury, New Zealand. Driver Bennett was educated at Whanganui and at the Geraldine District High School. He had a wide knowledge of stock. He was a keen huntsman and versatile athlete. He enlisted at Lower Hutt on the first day of enlistments and sailed with the First Echelon. He is survived by his mother and his sisters, Mrs J E Wood and Miss Betty Bennet of Cox Street, Geraldine. (Timaru Herald Obituary, n.d.)

    Driver Bennett was killed by enemy aircraft fire while transporting ammunition from Tirnavos to Number 5 Forward Supply Company (Kidson, A. (1961)., p.90). AWMM
