  • Arthur MacShane was the son of Grattan William and Mary MacShane, of Takaka, Nelson, New Zealand.

    Two sons, brothers Arthur MacShane (8973) and Charles MacShane (19246) served in WW2.

    Arthur was a driver for General Freyberg prior to his commissioning in 1941.

    He was killed when his jeep ran over a mine. AWMM
