  • According to official records, Christopher Turnbull was the son of John and Christina Turnbull of Scotland.

    His last employer before enlistment was Massey Harris & Company Limited of Dunedin.

    He served in New Zealand with 2 New Zealand Expeditionary Force from 23 September 1941 to 13 March 1943 at which date he held the rank of Sergeant. On 14 March he transferred to the Indian Army. His serial number was EC10189 and his enlistment unit was IE281 Indian River Salvage Company. At the time of his death in India he held the rank of Temporary Captain.
