    • Alister Buchanan was the son of John Whyte Buchanan, and Maud Buchanan, of Masterton; husband of Patricia May Buchanan, of Masterton. AWMM
    • Pilot of RNZAF P40N-1 NZ3134 - crashed during a fighter sweep by 48 allied aircraft over Rabaul on 24 December 1943.
      The aircraft were attacked by enemy fighters and NZ3134 was one of 5 RNZAF P-40s which failed to return from the mission.
