  • Private Crockett left England For France on 29 April 1918. He marched into Etaples Camp the following day. He joined 2 Battalion and was posted to D company on 11 (?) May 1918.

    On 17/18 July he was blown up by a large shell and was unconscious when dug out of the mud. He was evacuated to hospital at Wisques and then transferred to Battalion stationary Hospital before being admitted to hospitals at Doullens, Carnieres. On 5 August he was transferred to 6 Convalescent Depot at Carnieres, then hospital at Etaples. On 15 August he was transferred to 5 Convalescent Depot (Etaples), and admited to hospital at Cayeaux on the coast. A month later on 13 September he marched into camp at Etaples and was sent to England. He finally embarked for New Zealand on 6 November 1918 from Plymouth. AWMM
