      14 April 1917, slightly wounded whilst in the Messines area. Spent a few days in hospital. AWMM

      In February 1918, in the Ypres area, Ewen Campbell contracted dermatitis to his left leg and he was evacuated to England. He initially went to Walton-on-Thames, from there he transferred temporarily to Hornchurch Convalescent Depot and then to Codford, on Salisbury Plain.(Church, p.129) AWMM

  • Ewen Campbell spent a week in Egypt before leaving Alexandria on board the 'Caledonia, bound for Marseilles.

    Ewen Campbell was admitted to No.1 NZGH, Brockenhurst on 24 July 1918, with tuberculosis of the lung. He died as a result of this disease in October. (Church, p.129) AWMM
