    Transferred to Morea at Sydney, Australia.

    War service: disembarked Suez, 14 November 1915, and posted to Auckland Mounted Rifles.
    Transferred to 16th Company, Imperial Camel Corps.
    Admitted to Rest Camp, Port Said, 6 September 1917; transferred to hospital from Rest Camp, 13 September 1917; posted to strength, Training Regiment, Moascar, 11 September 1917; transferred to Imperial Camel Corps, Abbassia, 27 September 1917; rejoined 16th Company, ICC, in the field, 12 December 1917.
    Detached to Brigade Details, 7 May 1918; on detachment to Rest Camp, Port Said, 2 July 1918; rejoined unit in the field from Rest Camp, 21 July 1918.
    Transferred to 2nd Machine Gun Squadron, 31 July 1918.
    Admitted to 5th Light Horse Field Ambulance, 17 September 1918; discharged to Rest Camp, Ludd, 21 September 1918; rejoined unit, in the field, 4 November 1918.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Suez on board SS 'Ulimaroa', 30 June 1919; admitted to ship's hospital, 30 June 1919 (general debility and gastritis).
    Committed suicide, 19 July 1919, on board SS 'Ulimaroa'; buried at sea.
    Court of Enquiry, assembled 15 July 1919 on board SS 'Ulimaroa', found that the soldier committed suicide 'whilst in a state of depression brought on by ill health. No blame attached to anyone.' 'Was found hanging by a strap in a lavatory. Had been in hospital for ten days with gastritis & general debility. Had been very morose but had seemed brighter later' (evidence of Medical Officer, Captain T.C. Fraser).
