  • George Hendry Campbell is remembered on the Roll of Honour in St Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Ashburton. I am researching the Men on this Roll of Honour and have gathered some information on them. If anyone has any more information I would really appreciate getting it so I can build a story of these men, their service to their country and also something of their lives.

  • George was my grandmother's brother (Elizabeth Johnson). We took flowers to his grave in 2004, a privilege to be able to do this, and friends will take flowers from the family later this year. So far away, but remembered.
    Public - Ailsa - Other relative - 30 March 2018
  • Alexander Campbell my Grandfather was George's brother. My mother Helen Brathwaite (nee Campbell) also visited George's grave when she was in Europe. There has been a photo of George on display at the Early Settler's museum in Dunedin. George will never be forgotten.

  • George was my Grandmother Elizabeth Walker Campbell Johnson's younger brother. She had a photo which was inherited by my father when she died, and we have distributed copies to our extended family. George was often talked about by my grandmother and great aunt Lyall as a gentle young man who enjoyed life, family and gardening. He was missed and mourned by them always. My sister Helen visited his grave, the first of our family to be able to do so. We remember him.
    Public - Christine - Other Relative - 11 April 2015
