  • Francis was known as Jack and was my Grandmothers brother, she was an older sister and would often tell me about her brother Jack and had very fond memories of him. I wish now I had asked a little more about him. My brother and sister and cousins have been to Klagenfurt in Austria to visit his grave. It gave my Grandmother great pride and happiness to have photos of them all at his grave there. His name is on the cenotaph at Lumsden and also Invercargill. I often think of my Great Uncle Jack and how very sad my Nana's family must have been to find their dear brother had died so tragically.

  • You were my grandfathers brother. You may be gone but never forgotten even through generations.
