  • Peter Campbell was the son of John and Elizabeth Hall Campbell; husband of Fanny Campbell, of Washdyke, South Canterbury. Native of Southbridge, New Zealand. Served in Samoa and in the South African Campaign.

    Enlisted, Samoan Relief Force, 12 January 1915. Served Apia, 27 March-27 September 1915. Discharged, 26 October 1915.
    Embarked Wellington, 26 April 1917; disembarked Devonport, 26 July 1917; marched into Sling Camp, 27 July 1917. Proceeded overseas to France from Sling Camp, 6 September 1917.
    Reverted to Temporary Corporal, 20 July 1917; rank of Corporal confirmed, 5 September 1917.
    Joined 1st Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, and posted to 2nd Company, 16 September 1917.
    Detached to Brigade School, 20 November 1917.
    Killed in action, Belgium, 5 December 1917.
