  • Neil Banks Couper was the pilot that flew with my father WW2. On their last flight their plane was hit over a small village called Druten in Holland. My father got everyone out and as the radio operator stayed with Neil in the burning plane putting his parachute on him until Neil told him to bail out. Dad landed in the Waal river and was recued by a Dutch farmer and hidden in his house until it was safe, Dad then met up with the rest of the crew and they made their way to Neimiegen and got a lift back to base in the UK.
