  • George was the son of Fred Kirman (died 2 June 1915) and Alice Amelia Kirman (nee Helland) of Hull, England. His mother remarried and became Mrs Robert King. They immigrated to New Zealand in the early 1920s.

    He married Rose Edith Pickett (nee Bussey), widow of Harry Edward Pickett (5401).

    George Kirman was moved from Stalag XVIII-D (Stalag 306) to Stalag XVIII-B in Spital, Austria, on 1 Feb 1942. From there he was transferred to Stalag XVIII-A in Wolfsberg, Austria, on 8 Mar 1943. Red Cross Prisoner of War records mark him as safe in the UK on 9 Jun 1945. AWMM
