  • Ces Paul was a keen yachtsman and participated in many races when he was serving in Italy. He won a medal in June 1945 which was presented by General Freyberg.

    AWMM photocopy of Ces Paul's diary is held in the Museum Library Archives. His diary contains details of his time in Italy, the fighting, moving forward, enemy bombing, accommodation in dugouts, abandoned houses etc. and swimming and yachting. It ends at Maadi in August where he is being outfitted for the return trip to New Zealand.
