    • Tour D'Auvergne was the son of Edward Charles and Lilian Dale D'Auvergne, of Waimate, Canterbury, New Zealand.

The Waihao Forks Hotel houses an unopened bottle of beer left by Ted d'Auvergne before he embarked to serve in the Second World War (Sullivan, J. (12 March 2013). Stuff.co.nz. Ted's bottle part of Waihao Forks folklore).

Name incorrectly spelt La Tonr in Nominal Roll. AWMM
    • Ted had a farm close to the Waihao Forks Hotel which was Ted’s local pub. He was having a beer there while waiting for the train to take him back to the Burnham Training Camp. The rail lines were quite close to the front of the pub. It was the last day of his final leave. He left behind an unopened bottle of beer to have when he returned. Of course he didn’t and eventually that bottle was placed in a glass case for display. Many years later fund raising was started to create a bronze statue to be placed outside the pub .That was completed and unveiled on November 7th 2020. It depicts Ted seated in uniform with his pack, waiting for the train. Public - Ian Banks - Researcher - 18 April 2022 - Research
