    • Flight Lieutenant Roberts was involved in dropping supplies to the Dutch from VE Day, May 1945 and also flying ex Prisoners of War back to Great Britain.

He married Joyce Pilkington of Auckland in 1948 in the United Kingdom, where the first two of their children were born; Christine in 1949 and Brian in 1952. Gary was born in New Zealand in 1956. AWMM
    • He was offered a commission in the RAF after the war and returned to the UK. He spent 2 years in Iraq. On his return to New Zealand in 1955, he joined the Department of Cival Aviation and was seconded to the RNZAF and then posted to Laucala Bay, Suva. After a 4 year posting, the family returned to NZ and Vic returned as Superintendent of Ardmore Aerodrome. This aerodrome had been closed for many years and he was charged with reopening it and working as Air Trafic controller in charge. The airport was controlled by a chequers van for some time until a control tower was built and Vic drove the van to many country air strips that were having "Air" Days. He was also controller in charge at the opening of Mangere Airport, later called Auckland Airport. He was offered the position of Superintendent at Auckland Airport but because of ill health, he declined and retired shortly after that. • I had the great privilege, as a young navigator on his first tour in the RAF, of flying with Vic Roberts at RAF Sharjah in the Gulf in 1954. His calm manner both in the air and on the ground inspired great confidence in his crew which I remember so vividly now - over sixty plus years later. I also met his young family in Iraq a year later
