    During a sweep on the 05th June 1942, 22 year old, Sgt Allan James Edwards NZ/4164 RNZAF from Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand was shot down but managed to bale out and rescued by an Air Sea Rescue Walrus. Sadly he was killed on the 18th August 1942 during a sweep to Cherbourg. His Spitfire BL934 crashed into the sea - his body being recovered on the 27th August by a British Destroyer - buried at Felixstowe, Suffolk, England.
