  • Eric Ancell was the son of Charles and Constance Ancell, of Dunedin, New Zealand.

    He attended Dilworth Ulster Institute from 1906-14.

    His sister, Staff Nurse Irene Catherine Ancell, served in the New Zealand Army Nursing Service.

    The Auckland Museum Library's manuscripts collection contains a school assignment outlining the military career of Eric Ancell, researched and compiled by David Gaston, of Dilworth School. [Ref. MS 2002/183]
