    • Reason for aircraft/crew loss :

75 Squadron Wellington IC T2503 - piloted by New Zealander Pilot Officer Arthur J. Falconer - took off from RAF Feltwell, at Norfolk, England - at 19:00 hours for an air bombing operation to Wilhelmshaven. There were 54 Wellington bombers on this air mission.

Wellington IC T2503 was "coned" by German search lights between 22:05 and 22:11 hours. It was soon after shot down by Stabsbaterie 1.3 and 5./M Flak battery 226 based at Nordeney. Pilot Officer Falconer's Wellington IC T2503 came down into the North Sea - and the aircraft and all crew were lost without trace.
They are remembered at the Runnymeade Memorial to the Air Force Missing at Surrey, UK.

The aircrew of the last operation of Wellington IC T2503 were :

      1. Pilot Officer Arthur James Falconer RNZAF # NZ39910 - aged 23.
      2. 2nd PIlot Squadron Leader Edward Ulric Guerin Solbe : RAF # 34090.
