  • Lieutenant Jasmison was born on 16 September 1922, son of David and Margaret Jamison. He attended Christchurch West High School and was a member of the NZ Cadet Corps for six years.

    He entered the Royal Military College of Australia in 1941 and graduated on 14 December 1942. From January to May he underwent training at the Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV) School at Puckapunyal. On returning to New Zealand in June, he was posted to the AFV school at Waiouru.

    Lieutenant Jamison embarked with the 11th Reinforcements in January 1944, arriving in Egypt on 21 February. Following the Cassino battles in May, he was posted to B Squadron, 18 Armoured Regiment in Italy. He commanded a Tank Troop in the Liri Valley and in the battle on the approaches to Florence.

    On 27 July 1944 he was killed when the small reconnaissance vehicle in which he was travelling hit a mine and exploded. AWMM
