  • Accidently killed in Gaudalcanal. "An unfortunate accident bought a deep sorrow to the unit when Lieutenant Finlayson died on the 15th October. He was a very popular officer and everyone felt so justifiably proud to claim him as a pal." - "The Gunners" (Unofficial History Srtillery Units 2 NZEF IP) Anon. 1948 pages 245 and 246.
