  • Archie Cartwright was the son of William and Emily Cartwright, of Lepperton, Taranaki.

    Embarked Wellington, 31 December 1917; disembarked Glasgow, Scotland, 25 February 1918.
    Admitted to 3rd Scottish General Hospital, Glasgow, 25 February 1917 (measles); discharged to Sling Camp, 8 March 1917; marched into Larkhill, 9 March 1918.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 15 May 1918; joined 2nd Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, in the field, 19 May 1918.
    Transferred to 2nd Bn, Wellington Infantry Regiment, 2 August 1918.
    Wounded in action, 1 October 1918 (gun shot wound, chest), and admitted to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance; died of wounds, 1 October 1918.
