  • Leonard Carver was the son of Mrs. M. J. Paterson, of Peel St., Geraldine, Timaru, New Zealand.

    Joined Bn, Mudros, 30 September 1915.
    Admitted to HS 'Glenart Castle', 8 December 1915 (diarrhoea); transferred to NZ General Hospital, Cairo, 11 December 1915; discharged to NZ Base, Ghezireh, 31 December 1915. Rejoined unit, Ismailia, 18 January 1916.
    Embarked Port Said for France, 6 April 1916.
    Wounded in action, 16 September 1916; admitted to 23rd General Hospital, Etaples, 19 September 1916; transferred to England, 22 September 1916, and admitted to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 25 September 1916; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 11 October 1916.
    Found guilty, 10 December 1916, of being absent without leave: forfeited 2 days' pay.
    Transferred to 3rd Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, 3 May 1917.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 20 August 1917.; rejoined unit, in the field, 1 November 1917.
    Appointed Lance Corporal, 4 December 1917.
    Proceeded on leave to United Kingdom, 18 August 1918; rejoined Bn, 5 September 1918.
    Wounded in action, 29 September 1918 (multiple gun shot wounds), and admitted to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance; transferred same day to 49th Casualty Clearing Station, and thence to 11th Stationary Hospital, Rouen, 1 October 1918.
    Died of wounds, 13 October 1918. AWMM
