  • Hello Jacob/joe/poe. I have been researching my own family history and discovered you as a good friend/comrade of my great uncle Doug Irwin. I heard you sing Tofe my Felini (on YouTube) with my uncle and 3 other islanders in a Maori battalion concert in Italy shortly before you died. I was looking through my fathers photos today (Anzac day) and it turns out his veteran father knew you too! There was a photo of (who I think was) you at the pyramids with my grandfather and (quite unmistakably but I could be wrong) Jimmy o’Dwyer! On the back of the photo it was written that the ‘Samoan had died’. What a small world. I hope your family are remembering you today and I will be playing your beautiful song. Love from my Irwin aiga to yours. Julia Barker (Duffy/Irwin aiga from Samoa).
