  • Athol Foster was the son of Harry Percy Rae Foster and Janet Grierson Foster, of Remuera, Auckland.

    Attended King's College 1929-33, where he was a member of Parnell House. Attended Auckland University College where he recieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

    A reporter with the New Zealand Herald and also the Straits Times before the war.
