  • Today we have visited Rollo's grave and laid a wooden cross. we often go to his grave, he is so far from home. My husbands family started visiting it in 1945, Brian and have tended it since 1960.

  • So much is written about fighter pilots and others, but the boys who lost their lives during training have very little written about them. We are trying to address this, but there were thousands lost (not an exaggeration) during training. For such a small nation as New Zealand, they gave so much. We need to remember them. Websites such as this, assist researchers such as ours to provide additional information to others. But we welcome any new details that could be added to the pages we have created at Aircrew Remembered.

  • 11.11.2018 Today I am visiting the Museum with my two daughters as my husband, Bruce Wesley Gribble passed away recently. He was born 11.11.1945.
Bruce's middle name was given for Gallie as he was Bruce's father, Wilfred Gribble's, best friend. Both Wesley Gallie and Wilfred Gribble were to train as pilots together, however Wilfred was unable to continue due to problems with his eardrums.
In Bruce's birth book there is a note:
"This was the last official "Armistice Day" held in commemoration of the end of World War I.
In future years it is to be "Remembrance Day" on the nearest Sunday to 11 November."
