    Pilot-Officer Evan Claude Temperton, reported missing believed killed on air operations, is the son of Mr. Claude Temperton, Gisborne, and was born in this district. He received his education in Napier, and excelled in Rugby and cricket as a student at Napier High School. He had been abroad for about three years, and had taken part in many operations as an air-gunner. Pilot-Officer Temperton was single, and enlisted from Napier.
