  • John Cavanagh was the son of Michael and Mary Cavanagh, of Papatotara, Southland, New Zealand.

    Embarked Wellington, 9 June 1917; disembarked Devonport, England, 16 August 1917, and marched in to 5th Reserve Bn, Tidworth.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 18 October 1917; joined B Company, 3rd Bn, in the field, 25 October 1917.
    Killed in action, 4 October 1918.
