    • Bruce Gillies was the son of Tom and Olive. He left for war from South Canterbury. His father and mother Thomas and Olive are buried in the Temuka cemetery. Not England, Olive was a war bride. Public - John Sinclair - Other Relative - 18 April 2015 - Tomas was my Grand father and died in my family home in Temuka.

  • Bruce Gillies if he hadn't died would have been my uncle. My Grandfather Thomas Sinclair Gillies lived and died in South Canterbury. He brought home form Suffolk a bride Olive Norah Harvey. The both lived and died in New Zealand. Check the war record because Thomas served again during WW2. Tom in fact died in the family home in the 1970s in Temuka and is buried in the Temuka cemetery alongside his wife Olive Norah. Bruce who died in North Africa was I suppose an uncle, my mothers brother and he left from South Canterbury where the family lived.
