    • William Townsend was the son of Mrs Anne Miller; husband of Muriel Ena (Peggy) Townsend, of Island Bay, Wellington, New Zealand. AWMM
    • William's father was William Townsend, seaman, born in Nova Scotia, Canada around 1873. He had married Anna Marie August Hunt (nee Thim) on October 9, 1907. Their only son, William Francis Townsend, was born May 30, 1909, in Wellington. William Sr. died in September 1919. Anna remarried, June 2, 1920, to William Walter Miller.
