    War service: Egypt, Western Front

    Embarked Wellington, 6 May 1916; disembarked Egypt, 22 June 1916; embarked Alexandria, 26 July 1916; disembarked Southampton, England, 7 August 1916.

    Appointed Temporary Corporal, 16 August 1916.

    Proceeded overseas to France from Sling Camp, 14 September 1916; joined B Company, 1st Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, 1 October 1916.

    Relinquished rank of Temporary Corporal, 1 October 1916.

    Admitted to NZ Divisional Rest Station, 18 October 1916; rejoined unit, 26 October 1916.

    Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 10 January 1917, and transferred same day to No 1 Australian Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to No 13 Stationary Hospital, 17 January 1917; to No 1 Convalescent Depot, 6 February 1917; marched into Base Depot, 4 February 1917. Admitted to No 24 General Hospital, 27 February 1917 (bronchitis); transferred to England, 16 March 1917, and admitted same day to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 12 April 1917; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 1 May 1917.


    Found guilty, 13 September 1917, of being absent without leave, 10 pm, 7 September, to 10.15 pm, 13 September 1917: confined to barracks for 7 days, forfeited 14 days' pay, and loss of pay for 6 days.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 14 September 1917; rejoined Bn, 8 October 1917.
    Killed in action, Belgium, 12 October 1917.
