  • Son of Alexander and Ann Elizabeth Anderson, of Matama, New Zealand.

    Private Anderson was wounded in the neck on 11 August 1915 and evacuated off Gallipoli to Egypt where he died on 25 August 1915.

    His brother, 8/317 William Alexander Anderson, had been killed four days earlier on Rhododendron Spur.

    Another brother, 24/340 Robert Stephen Anderson, also served in World War I AWMM
