  • Thomas Tanner was the son of Jonathan and A. E. Tanner, of Tauranga.

    Sergeant Tanner was the navigator of a Wellington which was undertaking circuits and landings exercises when it hit trees about a mile from the airfield, crashed and burned at Wotton Underwood. Four of the five crew died. AWMM

  • My father was called out to help at this crash while serving in the Army he never forgot it. I can only find one other person who died that day his name was Sidney Charles Corby age 23yrs buried at Botley cemetery New Zealand Air Force.
