    • John Moore Hart was the son of John Hart and of Jessie Hart (nee Moore), of Masterton AWMM
    • Brother of LT Alexander William Hart 2nd NZEF WW2, and Mollie. Shot down and killed in Southern France whilst dropping flares in support of American Forces advancing post D-Day. He is the only New Zealander buried in the Bretteville-sur-Laize War Cemetery, he is buried with the rest of his crew who were mainly Canadian. After the crash his body was recovered by a French family and buried to stop it falling into the hands of the Germans. The family sent a letter to his mother (my Great Grandmother) outlining that they had found his body, but they had buried him and would take care of him.
