  • Gilbert Hayton was the son of Ernest Colin Hayton and of Lilian May Hayton (nee Dickson), of New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand.

    His siblings; Alan Colin Hayton (281438), Lilian Mary Hayton (W2239) and Thomas Stuart Dickson Hayton (472527) also served in World War 2.
