DEATH FROM WOUNDS PERMANENT STAFF OFFICER FOOTBALLER AND ATHLETE Advice has been received that Second-Lieutenant William Frederick Stevenson, N.Z.P.S., only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Stevenson, of Wanganui, has died of wounds. Second-Lieutenant Stevenson, who was 33 years of age, was well known in Auckland, having been on the Permanent Staff here for about five years before war broke out. He was an instructor and quarter-master-sergeant at the Northern Depot, New Zealand Corps of Signals, and about four years ago was sent to Australia for special instruction. After taking a course at Trentham he left New Zealand with the First Echelon as a staff-sergeant, gaining his commission in the field after undergoing a course in the Officer Cadets' Training Unit in Egypt.
