    • Served as Sydney Jackson. A Sydney Sharman (8/290), Kaitangata served in WW1 AWMM
    • Sydney James SHARMAN served at Gallipoli in WWI. He returned to New Zealand and his first attempt to enlist for WWII was unsuccessful based on his age at that time (he would have been 49 years). He went to Invercargill, changed his surname to JACKSON (after his father James/Jack, and son of) and perhaps age, and managed to get accepted for service. My mother, Aileen Marie TURNER nee SHARMAN sister of Sydney James SHARMAN gave me this information. Public - Alexandra Sidney - Other Relative - 18 April 2015 - family oral history
