While researching the Clarke family -who are distant cousins - I came across the names of Albert Cecil and Arthur George who were killed in action at Ypres in 1917 and on the Somme in 1918. Both brothers were replacements because of the dreadful losses from the " mincing machine " in France.
I dont know how their families coped with the terrible news. I seem to find deaths of New Zealands finest almost every time I do family history - now Im finding pairs.
Rest in peace Albert and Arthur -you are remembered.
