    • Son of Horace Ives and Ellen Phobe Ives (nee Shilton ), Takaka, New Zealand. Husband of Gladys Ives AWMM
    • Air Gunner Sidney Ives - of Takaka served in RAF 218 (Gold Coast) Squadron.
      Air Gunner Ives served on Stirling Bomber I N3725 with 6 other air crew.
      On 15 September 1942 whilst on its 31st air operation of this Stirling Bomber - over Wilhemshaven, Germany- the aircraft lost all power in one engine. The Stirling was nursed back to England by its pilots only to have the 2nd engine fail in flight in the vicinity of their RAF Base at Marham. The aircraft crashed killing 5 of the 7 crew - including Air Gunner Ives of Nelson, New Zealand. Air Gunner Ives is buried at Marham, United Kingdom.
      Note : Squadron Leader Ian Gordon Richmond DFC - also of Takaka - served with RAF 218 (Gold Coast) Squadron. Squadron Leader Richmond survived war service and returned to the family farm at Pohara, Takaka in 1946. Public - Jenifer - Researcher - 27 February 2020 - and family record of Squadron Leader Ian G.
