  • Raymond Jackson was the son of Robert Allan Jackson and of Mary Santina (Tina) Jackson (nee Jones); husband of Agnes Hunter Jackson, of 15 Matipo Street, Onehunga, Auckland.

    Raymond commenced training on 16 May 1940 at Burnham Military Camp.

    He embarked for Egypt with the 5th Reinforcements on 19 December 1940, disembarking in Egypt 31 January 1941.

    He trained again at Maadi Camp and was posted to 23rd Infantry Battalion on 14 June 1941.

    Ray saw action in the Libyan Campaign in November 1941, Minqar Qaim and the First Alamein Battle in June/ July 1942

    Ray Jackson was killed in action at Ruweisat Ridge and buried at El Alamein Cemetery.
