  • At the moment I am researching the war memorial at the old (long closed) Rewa School, in the Manawatu District. I just spotted the connection between this man and his uncle and aunt (Stephen Charles Hartley and Mabel Elizabeth Jamieson), all three of whom are named on this memorial, the latter two having been killed in WWI. There are only seven deceased on this memorial, and three (at least) are related. Very sad. Anyway, the Rewa School War Memorial is not mentioned on his page, hence I am adding the reference.

  • George is my great uncle. His mother lost her brother, Stephen Charles Hartley, and his father lost his sister, Mabel Jamieson, in WW1. To now lose a beloved son in the second World War would have been unbearable. "Thank you for sacrificing your today to give us a tomorrow in a better world. We will never forget"
